REEL FUNCTION
How to Adjust the Centrifugal Brake System:
Depending on the model, most ambassadeur reels feature a four or 6-pin centrifugal brake that maintains consistent brake pressure throughout the cast when engaged. After removing the handle side plate, look for the centrifugal brake located on the
Spool facing the handle side plate. To disengage the centrifugal brake system, push each brake block towards the center of the spool until it "clicks" into place.
Any combination of brake blocks can be engaged or disengaged. To engage, slide the preferred number of brake blocks away from the center of the spool. Each block will click into position. Once activated, the brake blocks will be able to move freely up and down the pins.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For maximum casting distance and the minimal tendency of line overrun, it is necessary to also adjust the tension knob to match the weight of the lure and angler preference.
How to Adjust the Tension Knob:
With the rod-reel-line-lure properly assembled, place the tip of the thumb on the line to hold the spool. Depending on the model, depress the thumb bar or push the button with the pad of your thumb to disengage the gear. Allow the lure to drop to the ground.
If the lure does not fall when the thumb bar is depressed, turn the mechanical brake knob counterclockwise to reduce tension on the spool. If the lure falls to the ground and the spool continues to rotate, the mechanical brake is too loose. Adjust accordingly.
